Watermelon ROCKS!!

Hey everyone! As most of you probably know it is Summertime!! (and if you don't you must be living under a rock!) And with Summer always comes my crazy and totally random obsessions. Right now it is watermelon! I think I could eat a whole one of those babies my self! Anyways, here are some cool facts about watermelon!:o) enjoy! P.S. the italized are my thoughts on the fact.

~Watermelon is actually a vegetable, not a fruit! It is also related to the pumpkin, cucumber and squash! Who knew!?

~A watermelon consists of 92% water and 8% sugar. Thus the name watermelon

~The watermelon was brought to America from Africa by African slaves. Thank you for bringing them!!

~Every part of the watermelon is edible. Including the rhine and seeds! Not like I'm going to eat it though...

~Watermelons are ideal for the health as they do not contain any fat or cholesterol and are high in fiber and vitamins A and C. They are also a good sorce of potassium. Tasty AND good for you!

~Over 1,200 varietys of watermelon are grown in approxamately 100 countries across the globe. Boy is that a lot!

~There are square watermelons. WIERD!

~Watermelon is the most consumed melon in the US. Half of which is probably eaten by me!

I hoped you all liked the random watermelon facts! Hey, you learn something new everyday! Even in Summer! :o)

Summer is Here!

Summer is here! I've waited all year.
For gardens, greenery and lemonade cheer!

Life in the slow lane on the porch swing.
Sitting on blankets, local talent to sing.

Movies on sheets in the park at night,
Families with children watching this sight.

Dancing like crazy in the warm summer's rain,
Makes us forget the life of "the same".

Camping, biking, hiking outdoors,
A campfire where we make yummy somemores.

Summer is my favorite time of year,
But it's much to short in the end, I fear!

Truly Amazing!

The sun is a main sequence star, which is the most common star in the universe. This leads some astronomers to say that the sun is an "unremarkable" star. These astronomers however are not telling the complete story...
If the sun were to bright or not bright enough, it could not support life on earth. The sun has just the right amount of mass to support life on earth! In fact, astronomers have catalogued more and more main sequence stars and they have found that nearly 70% of them have such a low mass that they could not safely provide the energy needed for a life-supporting planet. Also it has been shown that other stars like our sun have solar flares MUCH larger than ours. These would be devastating to human-kind.
As you can see even though it is just a "main sequence star" the sun is clearly special. Of course, this shouldn't be surprising to you. After all, the earth is a very special place in the eyes of God! Thus, it only makes sense that He would design a very special star to give the energy to support life!

Summer is on it's way!

Even though it might seem like it isn't. It was snowing here last night!! YUCK! IN MAY! That's NOT supposed to happen!! Anyways, the reason I know that summer is coming is I finally finished my last math lesson of the year! It's crazy to think that next year I'll be a freshman!!:o)

Enough w/ the deep stuff already!!

I know that you are all probably saying,
"Enough with the deep stuff already, Andrea. I joined this blog to laugh and have fun, not be serious!" And you know what I'm saying back?
"You want un-serious? I'll give you un-serious. So take THAT!!"
These are my fave pictures I found online. Thought you might enjoy them! And if you'll notice, there are funny quotes underneath each pic. TOLD YA! The best way to garden is to put on a wid-brimmed straw hat and some old clothes. And with a hoe in one hand and a cold drink in the other, tell somebody else where to dig.
